Natural Cooking- Siddha Cooking- Ayurvedic Cooking

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word which is actually a linking of two words: ayur means life and veda means knowledge. So Ayurveda is a system of knowledge, not just medical knowledge but knowledge about life and knowledge of the self. Ayurveda has survived to this day because it has been continuously in practice for the last 5,000 years. It guides a person toward a life style, a choice of foods and how to cook them.

According to Ayurveda we are made up of the same five elements as the universe (Water, Fire, Air, Earth and Space) when we are close to these elements or at one with them and nature, then there is perfect balance in the energies (the Doshas) within us and we enjoy good health.

All the complex factors that influence our health can be simplified into three fundamental constitutional types called Vata (air), Pitta (fire) and Kapha (water) these are called the “three Doshas”. The main purpose of all Ayurvedic treatments is to establish balance in these three elemental constitutional types, as an imbalance leads to the direct causes of physical diseases. When you are in balance you experience a zest for life. Your appetite is good, your bodily tissues and processes are functioning normally and your body, mind and senses remain full of bliss. In the physical universe around us these three natural influences or Doshas are also active and found in our environment, in ourselves and in the food we eat. Both the physical body and food are made up of the five essential elements; Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. Ayurvedic food creates a natural balance between these essential elements within the body when prepared using the correct amount of the six Ayurvedic tastes ; Sweet, Salty, Sour, Pungent, Astringent and Bitter. The six tastes have their own unique elemental compositions giving them special healing properties. A balanced diet will have healthy combinations of these.

Sweet Taste (Earth and Water elements)
Sweet taste food is considered the most nourishing.
They provide valuable vitamins and minerals to the body that are needed to assimilate the sugars. Food that falls under these categories is whole grain cereal, breads, pasta, rice, seeds and nuts. Many fruit and vegetable are also sweet as well. Eating something sweet satisfies our immediate hunger; it increases the energy level in our body and also has a calming effect. But excessive use of sweet food unbalances the cycle, and leads to obesity and diabetes.

Sour Taste (Earth and Fire elements)
Sour taste food that falls into these categories are buttermilk, sour cream, yogurt and cottage cheese.
Most half ripe fruit are also sour. Consumption of sour food increases your appetite; it also increases your saliva flow and digestive juices. Over eating sour food will render our body more prone to aches and cramps.

Salty Taste (Water and Fire elements)
naturally salty food such as kelp and seaweed helps cleanse the body and tone the adrenal glands, kidneys, prostate and thyroid gland. It contains potassium, iodine that helps balance sodium. Process salt which is devoid of its natural balancing elements increases retention of fluids in the body, thus affecting the kidneys, and putting pressure on the blood vessels and all organ systems. Overall it can cause toxins to be retained in the body.

Pungent Taste (Fire and Air elements)
Foods that are pungent include onion, Brussels sprouts, horseradish, ginger, mustard, chilli powder and rosemary. Pungent foods have high healing properties; they have the opposite effect from salty foods. It reduces the fluid content of tissues, improves breathing and improves concentrating power. Pungent herbs stimulate the mind and promote circulation in the brain. Over consumption of pungent taste food can aggravate insomnia, restlessness and anxiety.

Bitter Taste (Air and Ether elements)
Bitter foods are normally associate will green leaf vegetable, tea. Bitter taste food helps digestion and increases metabolic rate.

Astringent Taste (Air and Earth elements)
Astringent foods that come under this category are celery, cucumber, eggplant, lettuce, mushroom. Fruit like apple, avocados, berries, grapes and pear are also astringent. Astringent Taste fruit are often associated with cleansing of body fluids, blood, lymph and sweat. It also prevents capillary leakage; helps heal skin and mucus membranes and nerve tissue.
Foods can be of three types - Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. Ayurveda emphasizes a Sattvic diet for healthy living and support a blissful state in both the mind and body. Sattvic diet was originally devised for the practice of yoga and the development of higher consciousness. Rajasic foods have an unsettling influence on the mind by disturbing or dulling the mind. Rajasic food is excessively spicy, salty and sour like onions, chillies, wines garlic, red meats and hot peppers. Tamasic foods cause hyperactivity, lethargy and excess sleep; they dull the senses and keep the emotions heavy and resistant. Tamasic food is stale, old, re cooked, artificial, overly fried, greasy or heavy foods. It includes all “dead” food such as meat and fish and fermented foods and alcoholic substances. Both Rajasic and Tamasic foods are lacking in their ability to support a balanced, harmonious mind-body experience.

Siddha Panchakarma for Energy, Beauty, Sexual Powers
Siddha Panchakarma, a branch of Atharva Veda, prescribes body massage with medicated oil for restoration of youth and vigour. These oil massages practiced in accordance with great works of Caraka, Sushruta and Vaghbhata tone up the circulatory system rejuvenating the body and reinjecting virility.

Prescribed in Carak Samhita, Sushrutha Samhita and Ashtangahrudaya, the special treatment of oil massages are being brought to many all over the country. Contact Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar for more help in this to get aproper referral..

Panchakarma Treatment
This is the age old practice prescribed in Atharva Veda to restore youth. This treatment has been supported through intensive research and has received wide public acceptance. The process arrests degeneration of body cells, nerve debility and assures smooth flow of blood, reaching oxygen down to the very pores of the skin. A stream bath after the refreshing massage is said to open body pores, easing out toxins through the skin leaving one's skin tingling with joy.

Diagnosis in Atharva Veda therapy is just by a look at the skin and a feel of the pulse known in Athava Vedic jargon as technique of darshan, sparsha and prashna. According to the system, chronic ailments like arthritis, spondylitis, sinus, migraine are the illnesses of mind and body system combined so the treatment lies in ridding toxins from the system, soothing the nerves and relaxing tense muscles.

Administered by masseurs and masseuses who are specially trained in the technique, the herbal oil massages cast almost a hypnotic spell as one undergoes the treatment lying on the hard wooden beds made silky smooth with constant contact with oil. The wood itself is 200 years old. The contours of these beds are so designed to conform to body curvatures for complete harmony of body with the surface.

For those with nervous problems, the traditional methods of Dhara and Sirovasti are prescribed. In Dhara, even as the body is massaged, medicated oil is poured in a gentle stream like flow on the forehead and the head in a prone position.

Sirovasti is effective for sinus, migraine, deafness, facial paralysis and also to improve the eyesight. In this a leather cap is fitted on the patient's head with the prescribed medicated oil at a bearable temperature for 15 to 40 minutes, depending upon the severity of the attack. Administration of the treatment is closely monitored by the doctor.

Pizhichil is author type of special treatment for paralysis and polio. In this pieces of soft cloth dipped in warm medicated oil are squeezed all over the body by one masseur, while the other one gently massages the poured oil.

For improper muscle formation and hemiplegia a special treatment Navara Kizhi is administered. It is particularly beneficial for children suffering from polio with resultant deformities. In this a special type of navara rice, cultivated for medicinal applications, is used. Navara rice, cooked in cow's milk and a mixture of herbs is put in small linen bags, which are applied all over the body. The body is then wiped dry and a gentle oil massage is given. The course is of 14 to 21 days and is repeated, consecutively for another two years during the same period. Up to 50 per cent recovery is claimed during the first sitting of 14 days in children with leg deformities due to polio. Many children have been up on their toes after the full course of three sittings.

Slim and Beautiful
One can also avail of a unique 'health and fitness programme' to get rid of excess weight without exercises and dieting at Kairali. 'Herbal oil massages and ayurvedic medicines help in losing excess weight and streamlining the body in matter of a few weeks' says Gita. What is striking is the most natural, scientific and healthy method to shed off excess weight. The resident physician, Dr.Commander Selvam explains that reduction therapy eliminates accumulated toxins and aggravated humors from the body. In fact the aim is to eliminate factors that cause disease. During the herbal oil massage treatments for obesity for a minimum period of 14 days at Kairali, detoxification and toning of the skin go hand in hand, adds on the attending physician. The herbal oils help to liquefy toxins, so that these can be eliminated more easily. In tonification therapy oils are applied to nourish the body through the skin. The effects of such nutrients extend to the bones and nerve tissue for a direct penetration into the deeper tissues.

The weight loss treatment also aids in reducing cholesterol levels, prevents and maintains years of healthy, active and vigorous life. Thus, as the weight is being reduced by burning out fat, making the figure more proportionate, the tonification therapy imparts lustre to the skin, giving a young wrinkle free glow. A trial well worth the Atharva vedic way

Commander Selvam : Sri Selvam Siddhar from Hindu Temple of Georgia
Akasthya Yoga by Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar- Dr Commander Selvam

The Word YOGA comes from Sanskrit and means to unite, the coming together of Soul and God. Yoga is a process by which you can dissolve your Self with God. Yoga is a method of meditation which brings a breakthrough in the evolution of human awareness. By this process a person becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced. The all-pervading divine power can be felt or experienced as a cool breeze. 'Know thyself' is the main theme of all the scriptures - it becomes evident and one reaches an absolute understanding of oneself.
Yoga is not only for the physical body, people practice yoga for many reasons to feel more connected, to quiet the mind and to strengthen the body. It is a mind body practice that enhances physical and mental fitness, as well as spiritual well being.
Yogis view that the mind and the body are one and that if it is given the right tools and taken to the right environment, it can find harmony and heal itself. Yoga therefore is considered therapeutic. It helps you become more aware of your body's posture, alignment and patterns of movement. As people worldwide know the benefits of yoga, it makes the body more flexible and helps you relax even in the midst of a stress stricken environment. This is one of the foremost reasons why people want to start practicing yoga - to feel fitter, be more energetic, be happier and peaceful.
The main aim of yoga that we are trying to achieve is to unite our soul with the super consciousness which is Our God. Our physical and mental healthiness is essential in order to reach this target.
Yoga emphasizes good health and prevention of illnesses and diseases. Yoga is also used as a therapy to help us recover and over come illness and stresses caused by a hectic lifestyle. Our bodies and minds reflect the stress, tension and depression that we subject it to everyday.

Sri Selvam Siddhar has designed specific Yoga Workshops to deal with various physical and mental issues that one might suffer from. The workshops that we run are as follows:
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Weight Loss.
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Back Pain.
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Balancing Sexual Energy.

Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Mental Health.
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For The Digestive System.
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Womens Health Issues.
Akasthya Yoga Workshop For Eye, Neck and Shoulder.
The workshops can be tailored to meet the individuals own fitness level, covering beginners, intermediate and advanced yoga. We also offer Yoga workshops for yoga teachers.
We practice Yoga in its ancient and original form respecting its ancient theories and principles.
Pranayama - a short introduction
The term Pranayama is a word from the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. It refers to the regulation of our breathing activity and to controlling our life force. We all know that none of us can live for longer than a few minutes without breathing, yet many people either don't breath well or are unaware of what it means to breath properly. With a bad breathing habit a person only utilizes a fraction of their body's potential life force.

Prana is an energy or a form of life force which we can perceive in nature: for example wind is an energy that we don't see, yet we know it exists because of the movement of the trees or grass etc. Similarly Prana is also invisible but we can still perceive it, for instance when we put our fingers in front of our nose and feel our breath. Therefore our breath is an external manifestation of Prana. When we learn to control our breath, then we can regulate the subtle energies in our body and also control our mind.

In Yoga there are several breathing exercises that harmonize the flow of Prana in our body. There are five different forms of Prana in our body which regulate various bodily functions; Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana and Samana.

There are three different forms of Pranayama exercises: Puraka, Kumbhaka and Rechaka. Puraka is inhalation, Kumbhaka is holding the breath and rechaka is exhalation

Arranged Marriage...by dr commander selvam
This kind of marriages need more help from Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar. Before arranging marriage the match making of horoscopes is a must. Now days the astrologers match the stars only. They do not match the horoscopes. According to the Vedas it is not a proper procedure. Arranged marriage is a marriage arranged by someone other than the couple getting wedded, curtailing or avoiding the process of courtship. Such marriages had deep roots in most of the families around the world. The arranged marriage is practiced widely in South Asia, and the Middle East to some extent. It should not be confused with the phenomenon of forced marriage.

The match could be selected by parents, a matchmaking agent, matrimonial site, or a trusted third party. In many communities, priests or religious leaders as well as relatives or family friends play a major role in matchmaking. The pattern of arranged marriage can be employed for other reasons besides the formation of a promising new family unit. In such marriages, typically economic or legal reasons take precedence over the goal of selecting a well-matched couple. Though critics are not always specific, criticism of arranged marriage usually targets abuses such as forced marriage and child marriage.

In a 'forced marriage' the parents choose their son's or daughter's future spouse with no input from their son or daughter. This form of arranged marriage is rare in the modern Western world, but not quite as rare in some other parts of the world. Occasionally, even if the son or daughter disapproves of the choice, the marriage takes place regardless, overriding their objections. In some societies, in order to ensure cooperation the parents may threaten the child with punishment, or in rare cases, disinheritance and death. Motivating factors for such a marriage tend to be social or economic, i.e., the interests of the family or community goals served by the marriage are seen as paramount, and the preference of the individual is considered insignificant. In a 'child marriage' children, or even infants, are married. The married children often live apart with their respective families until well after puberty. Child marriages are typically made for economic or political reasons. In rural India and several other countries, the requirement of providing a dowry for daughters is generally acknowledged to be a contributing factor to female infanticide. In East Africa a form of arranged marriage known as absuma is set up between cousins at birth.

In a 'shotgun wedding' the groom is forced to marry the bride due to unplanned pregnancy (or other reasons). It is given this colloquial name from the traditional method of force used: holding a shotgun to the groom's head until he is married. This can also be classified as a forced marriage. Although it is worth noting that the concept came about before the invention of the shotgun. Laws of Old Testament Israel said that if an unmarried couple engages in extramarital sex the female can force the man to marry her or pay a fine. A reason is never given in the text, but it is likely predicated on the text's specification that the woman was a virgin; no longer being a virgin, it would be difficult for her to find a marriage, and so her sexual partner must marry her to provide for her well-being. Alternatively, it could be based on family honor, i.e. it was shameful for her to have had relations without being married, and it would be all the more shameful if she had a child out of wedlock. The main variation in procedure between arranged marriages is in the nature and duration of the time from meeting to engagement.

In an 'introduction only' arranged marriage, the parents may only introduce their son or daughter to a potential spouse. The parents may briefly talk to the parents of the prospective spouse. From that point on, it is up to the children to manage the relationship and make a choice. There is no set time period. This is still common in the rural parts of North America, South America and especially in India. The same pattern also appears in Japan. This type of arranged marriage is very common in Iran also. This open-ended process takes considerably more courage on the part of the parents, as well as the prospective spouses, in comparison to a fixed time-limit arranged marriage. Women and men fear the stigma and emotional trauma of going through a courtship and then being rejected.

A more moderate and flexible procedure known as a 'modern arranged marriage' is gaining in popularity. Parents choose several possible candidates or employ a marriage website. The parents will then arrange a meeting with the family of the prospective mate, confining their role to responsible facilitators and well-wishers. Less pressure to agree to the match is exerted by the parents in comparison to a traditional arranged marriage.

In some cases, a prospective partner may be selected by the son or daughter instead of by the parents or by a matchmaker. In such cases, the parents will either disapprove of the match and forbid the marriage or, just as likely, approve the match and agree to proceed with the marriage. Such cases are distinct from a love marriage because courtship is curtailed or absent and the parents retain the prerogative to forbid the match.

In cultures where dating is not prevalent, arranged marriages perform a similar function--bringing together people who might otherwise not have met. In such cultures, arranged marriage is viewed as the norm and preferred by young adults. Even where courtship practices are becoming fashionable, young adults tend to view arranged marriage as an option they can fall back on if they are unable or unwilling to spend the time and effort necessary to find spouses on their own. In such cases, the parents become welcome partners in a hunt for marital bliss. Further, in several cultures, the last duty of a parent to his or her son or daughter is to see that he or she passes through the marital rites.

Sri Selvam Siddhar’s services of Science of evil – Dr Commander Selvam
The spine or the human energy field contains Chakra, or energy centers, that vibrate at different frequencies. Each Chakra presents us with the opportunity to establish a root relationship and to satisfy the deep soul desire. Each frequency holds the gift of a certain power, which enhances our human experience on Planet Earth. As we tune into this power along with specific MANTRAS for each CHAKRAS, we are internally empowered to deal with the specific life challenges of that energy center or Chakra. There are seven Chakra in the human spine each for different body function. As a consequence we live a long meaningful and fulfilling life. We can also heal our self through meditation and chanting of the specific MANTRA with awakening of each CHAKRA. Mantras are powerful sounds and when chanted with devotion produce enormous effects. Mantras are well-off in their meanings and their meaning can be meditated while chanting. As the mind concentrates more and more on Mantras and their meaning along with Chakras, they condition the mind and take up to the higher state and form the path to salvation - the eternal bliss. Read on to know about the significance of specific Mantras…

CHANTING OF MANTRA
Chanting of Mantra is a concept of the Vedic Saints that includes Mantras as one of the main forms of worship, whose end is seen as salvation. Basically, Mantra Jaap means repeating the Mantra. Mantra Jaap involves repetition of Mantra again and again, usually 108 times completes one cycle. Due to this, the Rosary (Mala) used for Mantra Jaap has 108 beads in it.

Practical Aids for Jaap:-

#Take a bath or wash your hands, feet, face and mouth before sitting for Jaap in the morning.

#Sit facing east or north during the practice. This enhances the effectiveness of the Jaap.

#Sit on a rug to conserve body-electricity.

#Sit in a separate meditation room or in any suitable place, such as a temple, on a river bank or under a Banyan or Peepal tree.

#Maintain a steady pose. You can sit in Padmasana, Siddhasana or Sukhasana. Resolve to complete a certain minimum number of Malas before leaving your seat. Select any Mantra and repeat it from 108 to 1,080 times daily (one to ten Malas).

#Use a Rosary of 108 beads. Do not allow the Rosary to hang below the navel. The Rosary (Mala) must not be visible to you or to others, so cover it properly. Use the middle finger and the thumb of the right hand to roll the beads. The use of the index finger is not allowed. Do not cross the Meru (main bead) while rolling the beads.

#Do Mental Jaap for sometime without a Rosary or Mala. When the mind wanders, do the Jaap aloud, or whisper the Mantra for some time and come back to mental Jaap again as soon as possible.

#Do not chant Mantra in haste. Do it slowly with feeling, concentration of mind and devotion.

# If Mantras are chanted mechanically, it is of no use except waste of time. Total devotion and surrender to the deity to whom the Mantra is supposed to be appropriate is a must. Your faith in the Lord has to be total. Then only you will be able to reach the goal and be benefited by the blessings of God.

# Mantras are more powerful if uttered with utmost devotion, dedication and in totality. In fact for a common man, a Mantra is an occult formula to remove various worries and troubles. It is a tool to get one's desires fulfilled through positive vibrations.

CHAKRAS IN HUMAN BODY

Try to associate the chant with the rhythm of the breath and meditate in the form of your Deity. Keep a picture or idol of the Deity in front of you. Think of the meaning of the Mantra while repeating it.

Muladhara(Root Chakra)
Connects Body and Earth

The Muladhara, First or Root Chakra, is located at the base of the Spine, at the Perineum. It is the Lotus with four petals. The name means support, or foundation. The Kundalini lays here coiled up three and a half time. The Kundalini shines in the Muladhara like ten million suns shining at one time. Dakini Shakti lives here.

Presiding Deity – BRAHMA.

Related with - The Large Intestine in the body, Feet and Legs, with the element earth, and with the colors red and maroon.

Primal Relationship - With Physical reality, the Earth, Natural forces, Body, Feeling & Sensations.

Best for Healing of - LARGE INTESTINE problems, DIGESTION problems & RECTUM problems (PILES).

Sexual problems faced by the human being and solutions for the problems.
Certain works in the world needs only physical strength. For example, lifting a weight. Certain works need only mental strength. For example, working with a computer. It needs only mental power and there is no need for physical strength. But sex is the only work, which needs mental and physical strength. A lot of people suffer due to this and they go to a sexologist for their health check up. They undergo a lot of medication but the result will be nothing. Some people face horrible situations in their life. Some people have gone to the extent of divorce and some have gone even to the extent of committing suicide. What is the reason for all these things? The horoscope and the position of the planets in the horoscope are the only reasons for all these things. According to Atharva Vedic Astrology the planet Venus, which is called as Sukran, is the in charge of enjoyments.

The planet Venus, if he is in his own house individually in one’s horoscope it is very sure that the person will have a satisfied sexual life. If the plant Venus is in his full power (uccham) it is very sure that the person will wander for more and more sex. If the planet Venus is powerless in a male’s horoscope he will have the problem of premature ejaculation. If the planet Venus is powerless in a female’s horoscope she will wander for having sex with more than one man. If the planet Venus is seated along with the Planet Moon in on female’s horoscope it is very sure that she will have more than one partner for sex. If the planet Venus is seated with the planet Mars in a male’s horoscope it is very sure that he will be a homosexual personality. If the planet Jupiter is seated with the planet Venus, in one’s horoscope, he/she will have no interest towards sex. The aforesaid are only examples. There are a lot of things to analyze regarding one’s sexual life and how much enjoyment one will have in the life. The transit of major planets like Jupiter, Saturn, Raaghu and Kethu also play a role in deciding the capacities of an individual. The planets are the only authorities to decide on the life of an individual.

There is a vast different between the regular astrology and Vedic astrology. According to the regular astrology only the planetary position of an individual is analyzed. But in Vedic astrology the Karma, is also being analyzed. Especially Atharva Veda deals a lot in all of these aspects. Our ancestors were intellectual giants. They have foreseen what will happen in future and how to come out of those troubles. It will be the best to consult an Atharva Veda scholar before taking any important decisions. Only by taking the consultation and adopting the procedures advised by the Vedic scholar anybody can come out of their problems very easily. The procedures may be tough at times to adopt but having in mind to get out of the problems one should adopt the procedures as prescribed by the Vedic scholar. We all consult the doctor to come out of our physical ailments and we take the medications as per the advice of the doctor. Like that we should undergo the prescribed procedures prescribed by the Vedic scholar to have a beautiful life.

The karma or destiny cannot be changed. But according to Atharva Veda the karma or destiny can be easily altered conveniently. The Atharva Veda Yaksha/Yakshini devathas play a vital role in altering the karma and making one’s life as the happiest life. One can be relieved from all kinds of sexual problems by approaching the Atharva Veda Yaksha/Yakshini devathas. According to Atharva Veda “nothing is impossible”. The approach of the proper Yaksha/Yakshini devathas through the proper person like Dr. Commander Selvam (Swamiji Sri.Selvam Siddhar) is the proper way to clear off all kinds of problems related to all walks of life. Dr. Commander Selvam (Swamiji Sri.Selvam Siddhar) has established the Hindu Temple of Georgia. This is also known as Shiva Vishnu Temple of Georgia. This is the first healing temple in the entire western countries. This is the first Hindu Temple in the entire Hindu Lineage to house 108 different images of Lord Shiva. Indian Saint Vivekananda’s Guidance to “DEVELOP THE PERSONALITY”
You see what is happening all around us. The world is one of influence. Part of our energy is used up in the preservation of our own bodies. Beyond that, every particle of our energy is day and night being used in influencing others. Our bodies, our virtues our intellect, and our spirituality, all these are continuously influencing others, and so conversely, we are being influenced by them. This is going on all around us. Now, to take a concerete example: a man comes, you know he is very learned, his language is beautiful and speaks to you by the hour but he does not make any impression. Another man comes, and he speaks a few words (to you) not well arranged, ungrammatical perhaps all the same, he makes an immense impression. Many of you have seen that. So it is evident that words alone cannot always produce an impression. words, even thoughts, contribute only one – third of the influence in making an impression, the man, two- thirds. What you call the personal magnetism of the man- that is what goes out and impresses you. Coming to great leaders of mankind, we always find that it was the personality of the man that counted. Now take all the great authors of the past, the great thinkers. Really speaking, how many thoughts have they thought? Take all the writings that have been left to us by the past leaders of mankind, take cach one of their books and appraise them. The real thoughts, new and genuine, that have been thought in this world up to this time, amount to only a handful. Read in their books the thoughts they have left to us. The authors do not appear to be giants to us, and yet we know that they were great giants in their days. What made them so? Not simply the thoughts they thought, neither the books they wrote, not the speeches they made, it was some thing else that is now gone, that is their personality. As I have already remarked, the personality of the man is two – thirds, and his intellect, his words are but one – third. It is the real man, the personality of the man, that runs through us. Our actions are but effects. Actions must come when the man is there; the effect is bound to fallow the cause. The ideal of all education, all training, should be this man – making. But, instead of that, we are always trying to polish up the out side. What use in polishing up the out side when there is no inside? The end and aim of all training is to make the man grow. The man who influence who throws his magic, as it were upon his fellow beings is a dynamo of power and when that man is ready, he can do anything and everything he likes: that personality put upon anything will make it work. Now we see that though this is a fact no physical laws that we know of will explain this. How can we explain it by chemical and physical knowledge? How much of oxygen, hydrogen, carbon how many molecules in different positions, and how many cells etc. etc can explain this mysterious personality? And we still see, it is a fact and only that. It is the real man and it is that man that lives and moves and works, it is that man influences. Moves his fellow beings and passes out, and his intellect and books and works are but traces left behind. Think of this. Compare the great teachers of religion with the great philosophers. The philosophers scarcely influenced any body’s inner man, yet they wrote most marvelous books. The religious teachers, on the other hand moved countries in their life time. The difference was made by personality. In the philosopher it is a faint personality that influences in the great prophets it is tremendous. In the former we touch, the intellect, in the latter we touch life. In the one case it is simply a chemical process, putting certain chemical ingredients together which may gradually combine and under proper circumstances bring out a flash of light or may fail. In the other it is a torch that goes round Quickly lighting others.
The science of yoga claims that it has discovered the laws which develop this personality, and by proper attention to those laws and methods, each one can grow and strengthen his personality. This is one of the great practical things and this is the secret of all education. This has a universal application. In the life of the house holder, in life of the poor the rich, the man of business, the spiritual man, in every one’s life, it is a great thing the strengthening of personality. They are laws, very fine which are behind the physical laws, as we know. That is to say there are no such realities as a physical world a mental world, a spiritual world whatever is one let us say it is a sort of tapering existence, the thickest part is here, it tapers and becomes finer and finer, the finest is what we call spirit; the grossest the body. And just as it is here in the microcosm, it is exactly the same in the macrocosm. This universe of ours is exactly like that; it is the gross external thickness and it tapers into something finer and finer until it becomes God. We also know the greatest power is lodged in the fine not in the coarse. We see a man take up a huge weight, we see his muscles swell, and all over his body we see sign of exertion, and think the muscles are powerful things. But it is thin threadlike things the nerves which bring power to the muscles; the moment one of these threads is cut from reaching the muscles. They are not able to work at all. These tiny nerves bring the power from something finer, still – thought soon. So it is the fine that is really seat of power. Ofcourse we can see the movements in the gross; but when fine movements take place we can not see them. When a gross thing moves, we catch it, and thus we naturally identify movement with things which are gross. But all the power is really in the fine. Perhaps because the movement is so intense that we can’t perceive it. But if by any science any investigation, we are helped to get hold of these finer forces which are the cause of the expression, the expression itself will be under control. there is a little bubble coming from the bottom of a lake; we do not see it coming from the bottom of a lake; we do not see it coming all the time, we see it only when it bursts on the surface. So we can perceive thoughts only after they develop a great deal, or after they become actions. We constantly complain that we have no control over our actions, over our thoughts. but how can we have it? If we can get control over the fine movements, if we can get hold of thought at the root. Before it has become thought, before it has become action, then it would be possible for us, To control the whoule. Now if there is a method by which we can analyse, investigate, understand and finally grapple with those finer powers, the finer causes, and then alone is it possible to have control over ourselves, and the man who has control over his mind, assuredly will have control over every other mind. That is why purity and morality have been always the object of religion; a pure, moral man has control of himself. And all minds are the same, different parts of one mind. He who knows one lump of Cray has known all the clay in the universe. He who knows and controls his own mind knows the secret of every mind and has power over every mind. Each man in his childhood runs through the stages through which his race has come up; only the race took thousands of years to do it, while the child takes a few years. The child is first the old savage man- and he crushes a butterfly under his feet. The child is at first like the primitive ancestors of his race. As he grows, he passes through different stages until he reaches the development of his race. Only he does it swiftly and Quickly. Now take the whole of humanity as a race or take the whole of animal creation, man and the lower animals, as one whole. There is an end towards which the whole is moving. Let us call it perfection. Some men and women are born who anticipate the whole progress of mankind. Instead of waiting and being reborn over and over again for ages until the whole human race has attained to that perfection. They, as it were rush through them in a few short years of their life. And we know that we can hasten these processes, if we be true to ourselves. It a number of men without any culture, be left to live upon an island, and are given barely enough food, clothing and shelter, they will gradually go on and on evolving higher and higher stages of civilization. We know also, that this growth can be hastened by additional means. We help the growth of trees, dowe not? Left to nature they would have grown, only they would have taken a longer time we help them to grow in a short time than they would otherwise have taken. We are doing all the time the same thing, hastening the growth of things by artificial means. Why we can not hasten the grouth of man? We can do that as a race. Why are teachers sent to other countries? Because by these means we can hasten the growth of races. Now we not hasten the growth of individuals? We can we put to the hastening? We can not say how much a man can grow in one life. You have no reason to say that this much a man can do and no more circumstances can hasten him wonderfully can there be any limit then, till you come to perfection. So what comes of it? That a perfect man, that is to say the type that is to come of this race, perhaps millions of years hence, that man can come to day. All great incarnations and prophets are such men; They reached perfection in this one life. We have had such men at all periods of the world’s history and at all times. Quite recently there was such a man who lived the life of the whole human race and reached the end – even in this life. Even this hastening of the growth must be under laws. Suppose we can inverstigate these laws and understand their secrets and apply them to our own needs, it follows that we grow, we hasten our growth. We hasten our development, and we become perfect even in this life. This is the higher part of our life, and the science of the study of mind and its powers has this perfection as it’s real end. The utility of this science is to bring out the perfect man, and not let him wait and wait for ages, just a play thing in the hands of the physical world. Like a log of drift – wood carried from wave and tossing about in the ocean. This science wants you to be strong, to take the work in your own hand, instead of leaving it in the hands of nature, and get beyond this little life.
